My husband has lost some function in both hands and this product gives him the ability to button his shirts. He loves it. Such a great product for those that have challenges using their hands. 5Beware one-handers!I have limited mobility, dexterity and feeling in my left hand due to a 15 year battle with brain cancer. Buttoning shirts and jeans are a huge challenge for me daily. I though this product would change my life but I was sorely disappointed. I'm right handed so to button anything with this device I have to twist my hand around while holding the product and inserting it through the button holes of a shirt or jeans. Ok it's awkward but I can deal with that.Let's start with jeans. The gap in the prongs of the device that allows buttons to be inserted into the device and become "locked" isn't big enough to fit around jeans buttons. I had to slightly bend the prongs around the button by forcing it but then upon attempting to pull the button through, the necessary force to use to attempt to button bent the prongs even further. Ok game over for jeans.Onto shirts. I still have to twist my have around while holding the device to insert it into the button hole. But then as I pull it back through to hopefully have the button slip through, it gets caught up in the fabric of the shirt. Another similar product said that you just apply a 1/4 twist while pulling, which I tried but just got the fabric and the device tangled up even more.I want to point out one VERY IMPORTANT POINT. Watch the video in the product's picture gallery. She's a woman so her buttons will be opposite of men's. That's not a huge deal since twisting my right hand around to slip into my button holes isn't a big deal. But here's the kicker. NOTE THAT SHE USES BOTH HANDS. Her right hand is doing the work with the device then she uses her left hand to assist in finishing off the buttoning process. For anyone with essentially only one hand to work with, this product will not help you. 1An old idea that remains very useful today.This button hook is such a great old idea reconfigured into a more user-friendly form for folks like myself with less dexterity who experience difficulty performing simple little tasks that we used to take for granted, such as buttoning my shirt or opening and closing a zipper.
