Takes some adjusting to find the right spot.I got this for my father who drives a Ford F-150 pick up and has balance issues. He was immediately happy about the idea and we tried several locations to find a place that would best help him.The problem is that if it s too far forward it dangerously obscures the driver s vision and if it s too far back it hits them in the head when they close the door.He hasn t taken it off, but I wonder if he will. It is definitely something he needs and we probably should spend more time finding exactly the spot that works. It takes two people, time and nice weather. We were doing it on a cold day, which did not help.It is a great idea.4Broke after a month of useI'm only 150lbs and this broke after a month of use. A total waste of my money and very dangerous for the disabled person relying on it.1Simple tool. Big help.Sturdy. Makes it much easier for my elderly mother to get in and out of the car. I do have to remove it before driving bc it would bang into her head but it is quick to detatch.5It attaches between the window and frame of the carMy car doors open very wide and cause problems in closing the door for some of my friends after they are seated in the car. This support handle also helps my friends with balance problems to exit the car and steady themselves as they stand beside the car. I also like that you can place the handle at any point along the window opening that is most convenient for the person who uses it. It is well made and sturdy. I really like this support handle.5great if you need an assist getting out of car or closing doori don't think this was intended for closing the car door, but that's what i use it for! i had one break on me (i think it was a different brand). this one has lasted a long time (years). it's a minor complaint, but when you adjust the length of the strap (at least i think it was adjustable), the piece of the material that is loose often gets caught on the outside of the window. when you're driving at higher speeds, it keeps hitting against the car window, which makes a noise. i have to try to catch it before the window closes to put the flap inside.5My belief is with continual use you'll wear out the door hingesI can't recommend this as with frequent use you will wear out the door hinges. You must consider the physics of your weight multiplied by the distance from the hinges. I find the car cane and a leg lifter a much better alternative and I have used all three devices2I like it so much I will purchase my 3rd oneI bought this to help my dad get in and out of the car because after dialysis he is very weak and needs assistance in and out of the car, It makes him feel safe. The reason I am buying my 3rd one is that I lost the first one after 1 use. At that time I didn't think it was that important but as dad had more trouble I decided to order another one. It worked great for our situation. I did notice that I had to tighten (make it shorter) than the pictures show which helped a lot. Unfortunately when I shut the car door the plastic clip broke. I recommend removing the handle in between uses. It was no fault of the manufacter, it was my bad so I will need to purchase again.5Inexpensive, effective solution for kids and grandparentsMy recently installed a Chicco Kidfit Zip booster car seat in the back seat of my Jeep Liberty for my 6 year old grandson. He was so excited about finally getting to ride in grandma's car but was having a hard time finding way to pull himself up into the back seat from the ground. I installed the Stander CarCaddie under the headrest of the seat in front of the booster seat and he can now easily grab it when getting in and out. Getting a 2nd one for my younger grandson now. Since I have trouble getting out of my son's Toyota Highlander, I might be buying another one for myself!5Look at your car doors before orderingOur car doors don't have a metal frame around the window so we haven't really been able to use this. I would have liked it more if the online add would have reminded us to go and look at our car door because it doesn't work with cars that don't have the required (metal) window frame.4Works perfectly for me but not as in descriptionI installed this strap to the metal adjustment bars under the front seat headrest. I noticed my mother in law always tries to grip the edge of the front seat to get in but her fingers sometimes slips off. She now grabs the handle on this device and easily pulls herself up. The description instructions is to install it onto the top door frame but that's not how I used it.5
