Stays New & Clean Looking After Months of UseI've had this type of toe crest (silicone) before, and they all turned a brownish, dirty color after wearing a few weeks. I assume the discoloration was due to absorbing oil from skin. I have been wearing the same one for 4 months, and it has stayed new looking, and there has been no discoloration whatsoever. I even wear it when I sleep so that when I step out of bed my toe doesn't hurt. I love that you can order this item for either the right or left foot, because I need it just for one toe on one foot. It's not often you find you have a choice of left or right. Comfortable, wouldn't be without it.5Comfortable to Wear, Soothing to ToesNeuralgia, arthritis and hammer toes on both feet -- oh my! A couple of non-healing pressure-point wounds on the tip of two toes sent me to a podiatrist. Debriding, antibiotics and bandaging made no difference to the wounds. After two months I went to a wound-care specialist. His first recommendation was that I purchase some "crest pads" to straighten the toes so that I wasn't walking directly on the wound, giving my toes a better chance to heal. I quickly ordered them through Amazon, slipped one on each foot, and they help! The concept makes great sense.It might be my neuralgia talking, but I find toe crests to be very comfortable to wear. They fit perfectly in the space under the toes, and are very soft and keep their original shape. I rinse them every night with hand soap. I attach a large crest to the middle toe of one foot, and a large to the "index toe" of the other foot. They are not intended to attach to the big toe. For people with small toes, try the smaller crest.Having worn toe crests for three years, I recommend the Silipos crest. While the crests last and last, the rings do not. Even though there is a strengthening fiber built into the rings, they eventually tear. The fastest tear was two weeks. Others have lasted as long as eight months. Either way, I keep several bags of them on hand. They are relatively inexpensive, and let's face it -- they are hardly something that you're going to pass on to your grandkids!5it's great for meThought I was going to need surgery. These things really took the pressure off the toe, allowing me to be pain-free. It doesn't cure the problem. Surgery is probably still necessary, but if I can go a few more years without doing that, it's great for me.5VERY uncomfortableThe gel fits well, but is VERY uncomfortable. After a short while my toes feel as though they are burning. Don't know if it is a reaction to the gel or the way the gel does not allow the toes to "breath" as they can with the soft, fabric models which I've tried and have had no issue with.2Terrific hammer toe treatmentThese are FANTASTIC for elevating hammer toes to relieve pressure on the underside of the toes. I had been getting new ulcers on my toes every few weeks. Since using this product, I haven't had an ulcer in almost a year! My podiatrist was so impressed that he started ordering Silipos Crests for his other patients!5Has its problemsIt does a good job lifting and straightening my hammer toe but it's bulky and sometimes gets twisted or turned over when putting on my shoes or socks. Occasionally it has caused me to stumble when I'm walking barefoot-it gets caught up on a door sill or edge of a rug.3These toe Crests last twice as long as the other brands!I ve been wearing toe crest s for several years and they do a great job of spreading my weight equally across while protecting my big hammer toe from needless pain and bloody socks. Amazon suggests I should add a picture or video but I m fairly certain you don t need a picture of my feet because if you re reading this you can look at your own damn feet. But I digress! I ve tried several brands and the reason these stand out is durability. There s really only one place they can break and that s the toe loop. Silipos, in addition to being very comfortable last longer by far then the other brands I ve tried and the best part is you don t have to pay extra to get them! They do a great job, easy to wear and kinda cool looking and last twice as long as the others. The toe ring is going to break eventually so why not get the ones that last the longest?5my poor toeI bought this Silipos Hammer Toe Crest product because I thought it would be easier to keep clean that a cloth toe crest. Bad move. The toe loop is so tight it cuts off the circulation to the toe and is quite painful. I would not recommend it to anyone. In addition, in order to put it on it needs to be powdered or it sticks to the bottom of the shoe and twists out of position. This is one that I would definitely forget about buying.1Which direction?I find the documentation annoying, as it is not clear which foot it is for, and various ways it may be used. i basically get a right foot model for use on my left foot...I think. These are also very soft, and don't hold up. I am still seraching for the model I got once which was much sturdier.2very painfulI could not wear the Silipos toe pad. It was extremely painful under my large toe. I could only go a few steps, then had to sit down and take it off. I've tried to wear it at night to pull my toe next to the big toe down. Without weight bearing it does not hurt much when going to sleep, but after a few hours I wake up with pain in the toes. Then have to take it off.I would not buy again, and recommend against it. Someone else with a greatly different toe configuration maybe able to wear it. Other than the middle three hammer toes from an accident, I don't think my toes are unusual.1
