Customer Reviews

Delicious, smooth but pleasantly grittySince I'd never heard of cookie butter before, I decided to give it a try. It's been compared to peanut butter, and I like a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of milk as a late night snack, so the cookie butter would be an alternative. I ordered the Roland brand because the price was nearly half that of the Trader Joe's version online price and since some reviewers liked it better. When it arrived I immediately opened the jar and slowly savored my first bite. It was smooth, delicious and tasted like cinnamon and spice cookie dough. It was, however, slightly gritty on my teeth as it melted in my mouth. NOT A NEGATIVE! The very slight grit gave it more texture -- another pleasant dimension, if you will -- to its mouth-feel. I think that it's a very versatile food product, like peanut butter, so it should have many other uses besides a quick sandwich or spread on toasted muffins. A wide variety of recipes from smoothies to frostings might benefit as well. While I awaited the 2 days for my Amazon cookie butter order to arrive, I visited my local Walmart and found another brand in the peanut butter section. Lotus Biscoff cookie butter was only $3.29 so I bought it. When I got home I tasted it and ate several spoons full of the creamy goodness. It was my first experience with cookie butter and it was quite pleasant. Spooning it straight from the jar looked like peanut butter. It had the same nutty color, the same smooth consistency and mouth-feel as peanut butter (absolutely no grit) but slightly less dense. The big difference is that peanut butter coats the mouth and takes slightly more time to melt and its nutty flavor lingers longer too. It was lunch time, so I made a peanut butter and cookie butter sandwich which I devoured in seconds and washed it down with a glass of water. I approved! Then I made another sandwich but this time I spread on a layer of strawberry preserves. That, dear reader, was culinary snack heaven! I devoured 1/3 jar of the Lotus cookie butter before the Amazon order arrived! In the meantime, I tried it with honey (!!!), peach preserves (!!!!), and just a cookie butter sandwich with a glass of cold beer (!!!!!!!!). In my 70 years on this earth I've eaten a lot of snacks with beer but cookie butter is right up at the top of the list with nuts, popcorn and pizza! Finally, Lotus is darker, smoother, creamier, more spreadable, and more shiny than the more dense consistency of Roland. Their flavor, however, are practically identical IMHO. I'd buy whichever was available or the least expensive. For that matter, if you can find a store brand that costs less, by all means give it a try. Especially, if you have a ravenous household whom can't get enough of the stuff or uses it in lots of recipes. Walmart's Great Value Creamy Speculoos Cookie Butter, 14.1 oz. is just $2.88. So, whichever brand of cookie butter you choose to buy, experiment with it. You'll be glad you did!5Delicious as a spread or in pie.I had never heard of cookie butter until very recently. I bought this to make cookie butter pie. A pie I had never made or tasted before. It has now become a family favorite. In fact I should have made 2 for Thanksgiving. This pie was gone before the pumpkin, chocolate cream, and lemon meringue. This is also a delicious spread on toast. The children like it better than peanut butter!5Do not buy this........if you are trying to lose weight. This s**t is literally one of the best things I've ever eaten. I occasionally eat it off a spoon like I'm five getting into the peanut butter jar. Best use - buy some dark chocolate (I like Eco brand's 70% cacao), break off a square and spread a heaping scoop of this heaven on it. I'm going to have to hide it from my husband....he's eating more than his fair share and it's pissing me off. It's also good with waffles, in your coffee (sounds weird, but it's effing amazing), or just on your finger. You're welcome...5Yum!It tastes just like what you're expecting -- Speculoos cookie flavor in the consistency and mouth feel of peanut butter.I'm using it to infuse into some cheap bourbon, which is turning out spectacularly, flavor-wise. (Not sure why I didn't just buy regular speculoos cookies and crush them and infuse the bourbon that way -- I'm not sure the added fat in the "butter" is going to work well in my infusion -- but this sure has been fun!)5Wow! Amazing! This stuff tastes amazing! I had never heard of it before, but someone told me to try it, so I bought some here, and it was totally worth it.I absolutely savored the jar and made it last and it was way better than a normal jar of peanut butter. It s more expensive, sure, but even with that in mind, with how good this stuff tastes, it still got a 5 star rating from me as far as Value for Money goes, because I could easily see this selling for $10, $12, or $15 at a farmers market or other local vendor.I didn t find it especially easy to spread, but that wasn t something I was really expecting, so it didn t distract from my experience, and overall this is a 5 star product for me!5Thumbs up from our 2-year oldThis is overall a pretty good product. Good peanut butter-like consistency. We bought it as a peanut butter alternative for our allergic 2 year old. It works, as it has a sweeter taste - like graham crackers. Doesn t appear to have as much in the way of nutritional value, so I ll look continue looking for a more comparable substitute.4Very Runny! What has happened to this cookie butter? I think the recipe must have changed because the last 4 jars I received were so runny you need a spoon to get it out of the jar rather than it being creamy and spreadable with a knife. This has been my #1 choice due to the lower sodium, but the consistency is a deal breaker. When the jars are new, there is about1/2 inch of oil pooled on the top. I started draining that off, but the next day there is more oil pooled on the top.2So yummyThis is so delicious. I put it on apples, cookies. A spoon 5Yummy!This flavor was wonderful. I had never tasted this food before. Just imagine spiced butter instead of peanut butter! It s wonderful on waffles or as a dip for fruit!5Best. Stuff. Ever. The only thing I don't like about this stuff is that I can't eat the whole jar and still fit in my favourite jeans. Where has this been all my life?!? I LOVE this stuff!5
