In my opinion, these nuts were just mediocre.The wife and I make peanut brittle most every year around the Christmas holidays. So with having to make 6-7 batches this year I decided to buy this 5 lb bag of raw Spanish Peanuts. The package arrived fine and on time, but the nut size and quality wasn't quite what I expected. These Spanish Peanuts were much larger than the size we usually get in the grocery stores. These were almost the size of Virginia Peanuts, and they tasted a bit old, not too fresh. A few of the nuts were actually rancid. We had to check them over closely before cooking with them. I probably won't buy them again.3Perfect!I make my own peanut butter now and was pricing the cost of peanuts in bulk. This was the best deal by far, even with price clubs and on sale items at local grocers. But when I got the peanuts I realized they are soooo much tastier. These are the tasty Spanish peanuts. They are already out of the shell, so all you do is: put them in the food processor and just let them grind away until it is peanut butter, adding some Sea Salt and a sweetener (honey. Sugar, stevia, etc). I warm mine up in a pan first before adding to the processor (roast) which helps release oils. You end up with a bunch of mason jars filled with delicious peanut butter! If you want crunchy, then just hit "pulse" on a handful of them and then add back into the smooth peanut butter. It is hard to find these peanuts unsalted so get these. You can also use them for baked trail mix -. Google "GORP" and try Rachel Ray's recipe.5you can't buy these at the storeThere had been a time, way, way back in the year 2000, when you could actually buy raw peanuts at any grocery store. They disappeared for reasons I do not know. Probably lack of demand.I love raw peanuts, they taste completely different from roasted as you know. This batch of 5lb was perfect for me. Last time I had bought 25lb (different brand) and but the time I finished them all - they obviously went stale.The packaging these came in was a little busted, and some amount of nuts came loose. I ate them too. Sorry squirrels.These are a tasty treat.5OK but few tasted musty so tossedA good deal but I encountered some nuts that tasted musty shortly after opening. Since my body does weird and almost catastrophic & irreversible things affecting my medications when I have any severe gut distress, I didn't want to take any chances. Probably not a problem, and I do prefer to eat raw when I can. The "off" flavor affected a small percentage of the nuts that I ate and wasn't overpowering but I don't eat tons of peanuts and my husband prefers roasted so it would have taken me a LONG time to eat 5 lbs...a good deal and based on other reviews maybe this is a sporadic occurrence so not sure is typical of all bags sold.3Awesome snack. Be sure to cook them first.I ordered these because they no longer sell raw redskin peanuts at the stores here. The store salesperson said they stopped selling them because people were eating them raw and the FDA halted the sale of them. She explained people were getting sick because they did not know peanusta grow underground and the farmers use manure and/or insecticides. The peanuts are washed and cleaned but who knows what type of residues are left behind. Anyway, I always wash raw peanuts before cooking them. So when they stopped selling raw peanuts I searched Amazon and found these. Really good price and no trace of any type of smell. It s a lot though but I won t have to worry about buying raw peanuts again. I fry my peanuts, put some chopped garlic, salt, on them, grab a beer and I m good to go. Great snack! These are really good peanuts! Recommended.5Perfect bake darling?Update for well done - changed my baking to this: heat the oven, set at 375 for 21 minutes, insert peanuts, every 7 minutes stir, leave them outside in cookie sheet until they are cold - now enjoy!First time getting this after trying some Fis***r brand from a B&M store.Price is right and quality is great imho.We like our peanuts a bit on the well done side, so at first I tried 350 for 15 minutes in the oven on a cookie sheet - as specified in Q&H here. Well, they were not done for our taste.Next I decided to cook: wash the peanuts through a strainer then put them on the sheet and salt and mix them, and in the oven at 350 for 12 minutes, pull them out and mix them with a bamboo tool and put throw them in again for another 12 minutes @ the same 350. I have gas oven and I think it is a bit on the gentle side with the temperature and baking power but first time I suggest to watch them carefully not to burn.Afterwards got them out and try one to make sure they are baked - this one won't taste well - if they are let them sit for 30 minutes and then give it another try. This way I cook them and trust me, they are very tasty; wife still thinks they are not well done, but who am I to say otherwise?5Perfect snackOne of the happiest memories of my childhood is nibbling on a handful of roasted peanuts. Try the following:- Pre-heat the oven at 350 F- Put the raw, without shell, peanuts (leave the redskin on, you can remove it when eating) on a single layer on the oven for 15/20 minutes, until they are nicely toasted.- Remove the peanuts from the oven and, if you really want to, add a pinch of salt. I don't.- Try to save some for yourself.5Tasteless, dyed red, will not buy againThese do not taste like peanuts. They do not have the nutty flavor, raw or roasted.I bought them a while ago. What made me write this review is - I soaked these peanuts in water for 5 mins and the water turned red and the peanuts turned pale. I don't think these are authentic Spanish peanuts. I think they are artificially colored red.1These peanuts saved the day!I have a tradition of making peanut brittle at Christmas time. Peanut brittle requires raw peanuts. This past Christmas (2018) as I went from store to store (in the new city and state I just moved to), I was flabbergasted to find not a single one of them carry raw peanuts! I've lived in cities all over the country and have NEVER had a problem buying raw peanuts. No, I didn't have to go to some specialty shop - they were just at my regular local grocery store. I even went to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods - there I found raw pumpkin seeds, raw cashews, raw almonds and more; but not a package of raw peanuts in sight!Bottom line: I never imagined I'd be forced to order the main ingredient for my Christmas time goody online; but there you have it! My large bag of raw peanuts from Amazon saved the day. They were fresh and tasty and since there was plenty left over after my two batches of peanut brittle, I was able to fill my bird feeder with some of the remaining peanuts and watch the variety of birds come to enjoy their own special Christmas snack.5Good for making African-style peanuts - big bag, but I'm buzzing through it fastBought these raw, shelled peanuts to roast African-style, a great protein snack to keep on hand: Soak 1 cup raw peanuts in 1-1/2 cups water and 1 t. sea salt overnight. Drain, but don't rinse. Spread on baking sheet & put in oven at 250 F for 1 hr. Increase heat to 300 F. Stir peanuts & bake to desired degree of crunch. (I like mine pretty dark, so ~1 hr. for me; you may want to start with 1/2 hr and judge for yourself.) In Africa, they blow the skins off after roasting, but mine pretty much stick and I don't mind them. Rather crude version, but much less expensive than the wonderful ones commercially available.5
