Some of the sewn seams are huge and dig into your armLike others have stated, it is generally a comfortable sling. Easy on and off, easy strap adjustment. My only issue with it is how it's sewn together. Where the different pieces intersect and are sewn there leaves a big thick line along your arm. I've been wearing the sling for almost 3 weeks and my forearm has permanent indentations from the seams, one from the elbow to where the front of the inside pocket it along the bottom of my forearm, and another indent wrapping around my forearm following the front of the pocket. If the sewed seams were on the OUTSIDE of the sling it wouldn't dig into your skin. Could also benefit from another inch or two in length. 4SO comfortableI needed a comfortable sling for my upcoming shoulder surgery because I would be almost living in it for about a month. This one is incredible. It has some give in the arm pouch so it doesn't feel like your arm is resting on a wooden block. The high back of the pouch provides good support for your elbow. The padded wide shoulder strap is soooo much more comfortable than the 1" or 1.5" straps on other slings. The sling was comfortable for both my arm and my shoulder even after 12 hours with my arm in it. I didn't find the thumb loops helpful - maybe my hands are too small for the loops to be positioned correctly. I think the loop was cutting off circulation to my thumb. I am 5'3" tall, have a slightly rounded figure, top of my shoulder to bottom of bent elbow is 14", elbow to end of fingertips is 16.5", (my hand wasn't hanging out of the sling). OH - and adjusting the length of the strap with the metal loop in front was easy. And good price for a very comfortable sling.If you need an arm sling for longer term use than a few days or a week, I can recommend this one highly. 5Odd sizing, but overall very comfortableI was given a very basic sling at the hospital after recent wrist surgery. It had a huge pocket area, but was nearly impossible to adjust the length of sling without removing it, had a rough fabric strap, and closed with Velcro right by the neck which was tremendously irritating. So I went shopping at Amazon and wound up getting this sling.What's good:- The neck strap is definitely more comfortable than the one on the basic product Mueller Arm Sling, Blue, One Size I got at the hospital.- The one-handed length adjustment when you figure out how to put it together makes it very easy to raise or lower the sling while wearing it. I noted "when you figure out how to put it together" because as other reviewers have noted, the assembly wasn't intuitive and there were no instructions.What's not good:- the arm pouch really isn't long enough. I had wrist surgery, and the end of the pouch is right where my wrist rests. If my hand had not been a cast, it wouldn't have been safe to use this. I couldn't have used it immediately after the surgery, because my wrist was simply in a splint and wrappings. There would've been no support at all, resulting in pain at best and injury at worst. Bear in mind, I'm a somewhat tall woman; this would probably fit a child or a smaller woman fairly well. I don't believe it would fit an adult man. From what I understand, the larger version of the sling isn't a whole lot better with regards to wrist support as it just adds fabric beyond where the strap attaches, versus having a longer supported length.- The interior pockets aren't really useful. They're about the right size to put a credit card or something in them, but the complete lack of friction would make me worry that the card would slide out unnoticed.- The overall strap length is a bit too long. When I had it set at its shortest, it was just about right for me when walking around. It would be too long for a shorter person. On the plus side, when I needed to loosen it for sleep, there was plenty of length for me to get comfortable.- The wrist end of it is basically sewn together, connected by a couple of very short bits of fabric. That made it tricky to put a largish cast into the sling- The thumb loops are elastic, which sounds like a good idea until you realize that your arm will try to slide out of the sling, and this will let that happen (to an extent), then you wind up with the elastic gouging into your thumb. 4Worth every penny!Omg! So much more comfortable than the sling I was given after rotator cuff surgery. The original sling was stiff and uncomfortable. My elbow would work it s way up and out and there was no way to sleep in it! This sling is soft and the slightly stretchy fabric forms to your arm and it doesn t come off. What a difference! If you re going to be in a sling for an extended time get yourself one of these! Comfort, interior pocket is convenient and the front clip that allows you to easily loosen or tighten is a real bonus. 5Comfortable but prone to takin a walk aboutTL;DR : very comfortable sling!I bought this because the sling I was given after my surgery had a little (3/4") contact point on my trip and was causing a lot of pain while wearing it. Basically the whole weight of your arm is concentrated on that point. The contact point on this sling is about 3 inches wide, well padded, slightly elastic and split. So there's no one point where all the weight is sitting on my trap. The strap also feels slightly elastic so it's got a little give making everything a little more comfortable.The bad things about this are exact the same as the good. That 3 inch pad is great when you're standing up and walking around but if you lay down it tends to wander around usually ending up square over my throat which isn't terribly pleasing. It does the same thing when sitting as well, so you'll be adjusting it frequently if you sit. I've attached velcro to the bottom of it but it wont hold so if I had to wear this for more than just a month I'd probably get someone to sew something to the bottom of it to keep it in place, or pin it to my shirt. Constantly wearing a collared shirt will reduce the annoyance of this substantially. If you spend most of the day sitting you might look to see if there's something out there that's got a wide pad but will say in place. 4Well made , but no clear instructions or care infoGot this for my elderly mother and sent it to her - she could not figure out how to use it until I got there 2 days later. There are pictures on the box - but are not very helpful to her. also the strap closest to the sling pouch is a connected via a velcro tab under a plastic buckle - and difficult for older person or someone with limited dexterity to make it easy to get to in order to release the sling and put back on 4Best one for my needsWhen I broke my arm recently I dreaded being stuck in a sling. Naturally the hospital gives you some super cheap poorly made Velcro attachment sling that thwycxharge your insurance like $100 for. This one is nothing like that. It's made super well and is quite comfortable. I wore it during my 5k run a week after breaking my arm and not only was it keeping my arm properly secure, but it doesn't dig into my neck like other ones did. Don't worry if you get it dirty, I threw this in my washer and dryer and it came out good as new. 5Mixed feelings about this slingMixed feelings about this sling.The product itself, the sling and strap, are very good. Nice materials, look to be solidly assembled. Good size: I'm 6-2, 210 and it fits and adjusts well and is comfortable. The split strap shoulder pad is first class. It should be - Custom SLR (single-lens reflex) mainly markets straps for pro photographers. So basically it's a pro-level camera strap sewn to a decent sling.The problem is in the horrible instructions. No instructions come in the box (really?). The instructions on the product page are not for the model that I received and nowhere on the sellers website can you find correct instructions. So unless you have a lot of experience with strap connections you might have a hard time figuring it out.On the plus side I put in a help request with the seller and received a (partial) response in about two hours. But who has two hours to decipher how to do what should be a two minute (heck, thirty seconds) assembly?And oh yeah - I wore the sling to karate class. It worked fine in protecting my shoulder. But it also left black marks on my white gi jacket at the collar where the strap sits. Maybe they'll come out in the wash. The point is you should probably wash the sling first to get some of the dye out. At the least try not to wear light clothing the first few wearings. 3Fantastic Sling!The Medical Arm Sling with Split Strap Technology is a wonderfully comfortable, durable product. Adjustments are quick and easy (one reviewer stated that the adjustment is in the back;this IS NOT the case, and I have to wonder how they are wearing it...). Sling provides much-needed relief from the pain of a torn rotator cuff. In addition, the folks at Custom SLR were kind and courteous, contacting me to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and had no questions regarding the use of the sling. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. 5WORTHLESS!!I spent $17 on this thing and couldn't wear it for more than 5 minutes. The "split strap" looked and sounded like a good idea to help alleviate tension on the shoulder/neck. WRONG! It is so wide that it literally dug into my neck and was so stiff that it just sits there, on your neck putting more pressure on it. I don't know how anybody could even use this thing. 1
