Customer Reviews

This item is much smaller than the previous version. Sharp BURRS, Watch out!!This item is much smaller than the previous version but has the similar name and design.I have used the previous version for over ten years. Even me, I could not tell the difference between those two through the pictures on the amazon.I would not suggest anyone to buy this. Main reason is BURRS. When I fill the medicines once a week and take out the medicines everyday, I cut my fingers three times ever since I got this item. 1Bigger than it looksWhen I received this medicine organizer I didn't think it was going to hold all my meds and supplements. I have RA, Fibro, and a few other ailments which ask require daily medication. My Llysine pill is almost half an inch!I really didn't have a better option so I went ahead and started loading my medication into it. Thankfully everything fit with room to spare. With three small children in the house I appreciate the lock, although I do feel that with a little work my kids would eventually figure out how to get inside. Medication should always be out of reach regardless of locks, but I like the added protection. I love that the entire tray slides out for loading. With a quick glance I can double check the pills, which I often need to do because I lose my place so easily.I do wish the max plus version was still available. I was hoping to use that extra row for my As Needed medication. 5Best organizer I've found for dozens of meds/pillsI have now had this pill organizer for almost three years, and it is the best I've ever used. That's an accomplishment for this little organizer because I started taking daily meds over 10 years ago. In that time, I have researched and considered dozens of pill organizers and tried many.Durable: I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY, moving between cities for 1+ overnights at least once a week, sometimes four times a week. It sits in my laundry basket, the catch-all for all kinds of items including heavy backpacks, so the organizer gets squashed quite a lot by various amounts of pressure. As I said, I've used this for almost three years now and it's still functioning optimally.Big slots: These squares are the only ones I've found that are BIG enough to actually hold my medication. I currently have ten small-ish pills in one box and it's not even a third full. The other box is about halfway full with twelve pills, most of which are large supplement pills like vit B, vit C, multivitamin, and Omega-3. Unheard of in all my research. That means that this dispenser is quite large. It won't fit in a purse but fits easily in a backpack. The width and depth are smaller than my laptop, but the height is thicker than a laptop. The size of the squares is unheard of in my research and vital for my use. All the others are puny and fit like five large pills. People, what about us with chronic illnesses??? I know there's a market for this but no one has capitalized on it yet besides this super great dispenser.Secure: I was concerned that my child would get into this box to get the pills out but he's never touched it.1-the organizer by itself looks boring. I like that because it reduces his interest.2-the organizer is designed like a flat box with a lid and two latches on the side closest to me, designed kind of like a very squashed treasure chest with one of those latches hanging vertically for a padlock (couldn't think of another metaphor). The two latches don't have a padlock but they take both coordination and strength that a young child (probably) wouldn't be able to operate. Each latch requires good thumb strength to pull it open. A child trying to do both latches at the same time - it would be quite difficult for the child, certainly way more difficult than any other organizer I found where all the child has to do is pop a little lid open using a fist around the container and one finger.3 - if my child wanted to open the slats on the top, he might be able to. I haven't opened the container in close view of him, and the little handle blends in due to being clear plastic, so that hasn't been a problem for us but might be for someone else. Still, this box was the most childproof with this much pill space that I could find.Filling & Dispensing: this organizer actually opens two ways. To FILL the container, I pop open the latches. The top, the blue side, of the organizer lifts up and away from me. Now the organizer is laying on the ground like the two sides of a book with the lid away from me and white boxes open closest to me. The blue side is shaped so that the white side is tilted a bit towards me while the lid is open, making it easier to see what teeny pills I've put in that sometimes hide from view. The organizer comes with LABELS at the top for days of the week. I'm on a different filling schedule, so I put sticker labels on top of the days of the week so it now says my day. I use two rows for one week and two rows for the second week so I'm only refilling every two weeks, which I like. Aint nobody got time fo dat filling up a pill box for a half hour every week vs 45 minutes every 2 weeks. Because of the design for dispensing, using it my way is very easy. Here's how it functions for DISPENSING. Each column has a single clear plastic slat. At the end furthest away from you, there's a little handle. When you are getting pills, you hold the little handle, slide the slat towards you, and it slides out close in front of you. It sort of clicks into place when you get to the end of one box, so it naturally prevents you from accidentally sliding it a centimeter too far and pills dumping out. The slats are surprisingly durable. As I said, I've had this for nearly three years. I try to be careful about bending them, but many, many times I've accidentally pushed on the slat while it was stuck out. It's so sturdy with just enough flexibility that none have ever broken even with various amounts of pressure against them. The single slightly negative part of the whole thing is that I have to TILT the container fully upside down and jostle it a bit to get all the pills because for some reason if I only tilt it 45 degrees from the ground, some of the pills stay in.I am still incredibly impressed even after almost three years. I have never thought to myself about finding something else because I'm so satisfied with this one. I highly recommend it. 5Poor ManufacturingI've had one of these for about 10 years and decided to purchase another. This one is almost identical, except the swivel point of lifting off the top to fill with supplements has issues. The top is designed to snap into the bottom piece at the swivel, but the top arms are bent outward causing the top not to snap into place. While you can attach the top, as soon as you unlatch the two front snaps to lift the top (blue piece) and swivel it back, it immediately becomes disconnected and the whole top piece comes off.I tried attaching a rubber band to the two arms to hopefully bend them in a bit, but after about 4 days it did not really help. As it is plastic, I cannot risk doing anything more without damage. I might try a heat gun later, but I will need to find it; moved recently. If you don't mind doing some work or living with that imperfection, this is nice and big and holds a ****load of tablets and such. I am a bit disappointed though, as this is not an inexpensive item. 3Best option for my needsI really like this pill organizer. I take a lot of pills per day - around 20 or so. When I first got this pill organizer, I was taking less quantity but the actual pills were much larger. Either way, all of my daily pills fit into these compartments perfectly.I just did a little test and took the largest pills I have in my medicine cabinet and counted the number that would fit into each compartment. These pills are 7/8" from side to side, 3/8" from top to bottom, and 1/4" tall. I was able to easily fit 15 of these into a single compartment!I take my pills twice daily, so I actually use this organizer for a two week period of time rather than a single week. I simply use the first two rows for one week and then the next two rows for the second week. It works out perfectly!I love this box so much that I actually ordered a second one because I am lazy and I hate refilling my pill box. So now I fill up 4 weeks worth of pills all at once. Some other reviewers have pointed out the very real fact that because of the design of this product, if you miss a dose, it can be awkward getting the next dose out since you have to open the top of one daily dose to get to the subsequent dose. That can be very irritating, for sure. I, however, have found that I'm better at taking my pills on time because I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of digging them out or getting off schedule. So this feature has actually helped me! 5Do not buy for small pillsI thought this was going to be a great pill dispenser, easy to fill and easy to use. It is, except... and that's a BIG except: if there are smaller pills among your meds you may find them wandering around inside the box rather than inside each dose compartment. There is enough space between the 28 compartment tray and the housing of the dispenser for smaller pills to escape. I stock each compartment with from 5 to 9 pills and several are small. Because there are so many each time, a person may not notice the absence of one little, yet very important, pill. After 2 days use we very disappointed with this product and my quest for a reliable pill dispenser resumes. 1Well designed pill caseOver the years, I've purchased many weekly pill organizers, but this one is probably the most logically designed organizer that I have used to date.I've never been a fan of the hinged flip lids that the large majority of organizers feature. I've always found them to be a hassle to have to open as many as 28 individual lids and then keep them from partially closing while you're trying to fill each compartment. It's the main reason that I stop using them after the first or second time that I fill them. This "Easy Dose" case is so much easier and quicker to fill. Just slide the pill tray out of the frame and all 28 compartments are open with no lids to get in the way. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that I could fill at least three of these units in the same time that it takes to fill one organizer with the hinged tops. The only reason that I didn't give it four stars is because the pill tray is made of an extremely thin plastic. I can visualize where one would have to be extra careful to avoid cracking the tray easily which would render the whole system unusable and worthless. 4I like this organizer very muchI like this organizer very much. It is easy to fill, easy to see the contents, and I like the slides over the compartments instead of covers you lift. Some have commented that it is too small. That may be true if you have many or large pills but for me the size is great and the pills I take fit fine and I like that it is compact. (There are two sizes of these organizers and I bought the smaller one.) However, there are two issues from my perspective. One is that the compartments are such clear plastic. That is, they have no shading to help protect the pills from being degraded by light. I keep it in a cupboard and would not want to leave it out on a counter. The other issue is that it doesn't seem very durable. In particular, the tray that slides out is not very sturdy. I have only used these (I bought 2) for a few weeks but so far I am pleased. Hope they last! 4Small pills are a problemPills get lodged between the sliding compartment covers and smaller pills spill over into other day slots. For someone who needs help with meds, this particular box doesn t work, as it could lead to someone taking the wrong pills, overdosing or not getting the right pills at the right time. The larger version we purchased is much better and safer, only it doesn t lock like this one. I purchased this for my Mom, for traveling, to keep the pills from accidentally coming out and unfortunately, it doesn t work properly. 1Medium is great, jumbo is great bigI've bought and tried two sizes. I prefer the medium.Medium - It works perfectly. It's easy to use. It will hold capsules as well as pills (I had tried a smaller organizer from a different manufacturer and the capsules got stuck). It is designed for you to turn it upside down to drop the appropriate pills/capsules into your hand. I cannot find a flaw in it.Jumbo - It works perfectly. It's easy to use. But it is huge. I cannot imagine anyone needing this much space for pills. But if you like reaching into a compartment for pills instead of shaking them out the size would work. 5
