I didn't even have to charge it for hrs first.Worked right out the box but I plugged it in and shaved off so much from my rough callused feet. I would very much recommend this one. Does the job and is much better than my previous grinder because the battery is rechargeable. How well the battery holds up remains to be seen. Day 2, there was even more improvement. Pedibbunny leaves what looks like "white sand" on the ground. I used it sitting on the floor, so the mess was pretty contained. I've seen similar models for $50, without any replacements, this one came with two! I follow up with a medicated lotion in order to prevent dryness, or slow it down. You do need to be careful because if you stay on one spot too long, it burns.
