AwesomeJust what the doctor ordered. Bought as a gift for my ailing father and he loves it. Very cool cane!5Sturdy and gorgeousBeing a very tall person (6'6" or 2m), I was looking for a walking cane that was available in many lengths and styles. Brazos is a well known craftsman of walking canes, and when I finally found their item on Amazon, I was psyched. After selecting the 40" length, I still had many options for color and handle style. I chose the blue layered wood design and couldn't be happier.This IS a wooden cane, so it's a little heavier than an aluminum model, but even at 40" it's very easy to manipulate, and the inherent strength of the hand-crafted wood actually makes it feel more sturdy; more planted to the ground, increasing confidence.I'm loving this cane, and will almost be sad to no longer need it... almost.5Free Form Knob Root... Yes it is....All I can say is... YEP! Couldn't have made a better decision. A perfect addition to my Twisted Hickory & Free Form Hawthorne sticks.5Bows while trying to get out of chair!Wow. Where to start? I have ordered a couple of things from Brazos and LOVED them. So I was very excited to find that you can buy these products on Amazon. That should have been my first clue, but ... okay. I went ahead and ordered this. It arrived and let's just say I'm not impressed! It is VERY thin. I used it to help me get up from the chair I was sitting in and it started to bow right then and there. I'm an older woman, but I think I could easily snap this thing in half if I wanted to. Not sure how this is supposed to support me while walking. I had to laugh as I read the Brazos tag. The person who made my cane has had *5 whole years* experience "crafting" these canes. I'm giving it one star because it's pretty. It's too much trouble returning this, so I guess I'm stuck with it. I bought an adjustable metal cane from Drive Medical to keep in the car, but that cane is far superior in quality and weight to this thing. So I guess I'll keep this one in the car instead. Who knows? It might come in handy in case I should see a half dead pigeon on the side of the road and have to beat it all the way dead. Don't buy this product!Edit: I have since bought one of these directly from Brazos. Wow! What a difference!! I LOVE that thing! It's unique and pretty darned awesome. Plus, Brazos lets you customize their canes all different ways AND they happily shorten them for you, including leveling the bottoms of natural, bumpy sticks like this one would be. My advice is to skip Amazon/third party sellers and go directly to the source for a Brazos cane. You won't be sorry!1Fine For Support and Defense Against Muggers.Great product. The maker causes them to be long enough for tall people while they are easily shortened and trimmed by shorter users. While I like my aluminum canes because of their lightness they are ineffective as weapons against muggers. (I am old and look it). This hardwood product is hefty enough that a user can swing it with effect.Aug. 3rd add-on: After using this cane for a while I realized that the handle appears to be shaped for maximum comfort to the user. Earlier I had assumed that the shape was random.
