Arrived past expiration dateI ordered this last night and at noon today it was at my gate. Fast -- but not fast enough to beat its expiration date od August 14 2018... Today, alas, is the 1st of February 2019.I cannot attest to its taste, as I do not, as a rule, consume foodstuffs after their 'best by' date. I can certainly say that everything we have bought in the past from BIBIGO is delicious: our Costco has at least two types of frozen wontons, gyoza, and whathaveyou.Mistakes happen, and I am sure they will fix this one -- whoever it is who will handle it. I am not really sure at which stage of the distribution channel this sauce expired on a shelf. I shall update this review and award more stars accordingly. My photos show the date stamped on the cap. The numbers are repeated twice in different order because the US prefers month first, then day, then year.2Korean Approved but not original GochujangI am a Korean who knows Gochujang from back in Korea and now in the US. ^^ Gochujang is a staple condiment for many Korean dishes. It's fermented bean and dried red pepper sauce which goes in soups, stir-fries and dishes. Some families have their recipes of making Gochujang and they are all different and unique in their own ways. Some are spicier, some are sweeter... traditional gochujang is different from house to house. The ones that they mass produce are usually sweet and mild. They put sugar in them to make it tastier. These sweetened gochujang is usually for marinade and mixing with other ingredients. Un-sweetened ones are used for Jjigae(soup/stew).As for the Bibigo one, these are not traditional gochujang per se. Amazon has a few other gochujang that is closer to mass produced traditional style. BBQ gochujang? No such thing in Korea. ^^I got this one for spice gochujang noodle dish. There is a dish called bibim guksoo(noodle) which means mixed noodle with veggies. You can make the sauce with traditional gochujang, sugar, a bit of vinegar etc but I thought I would try ready made one from bibigo. My impression? Not bad. Pretty sweet and would go well with what I needed it for.Why 4 stars? It's kinda on expensive side. You can get similar ones at Korean market fro a bit cheaper than this. Or you can get a tub of gochujang for good price when on sale. (they usually have a discount on some brands all the time) Do not pay 9 dollars!!! 4 is more like it but 3 would've been better.By the way, bibigo is trustworthy brand. They supply alot of dumplings to Costco and offer all kinds ready made food in Korea and overseas.Get to know gochujang and enjoy is flavor.4The BEST Gochujang sauce!!!I used to be able to find and buy this at my local Walmart but I am pretty sure they stopped carrying it as I have not seen in there in close to a year. Anyways, I love this Gochujang hot sauce. It's my GO TO to spice up any dish. The reason I love it so much is because it's slightly sweet and not really THAT spicy. Definitely still a kick there and I am very sensitive to spicy foods and cannot stand a lot of hot sauces but this one is literally perfect. It's spicy without being too spicy. So for all the people that want to add some kick to their food, but are afraid of it being too spicy, this would be what I would recommend. It's just the perfect combo of sweet and spicy. And the spicy seems to fade/go away the more you use this product and your tongue/mouth gets more accustomed to it. It's a great beginner's hot sauce. I use it for fried dumplings, kimchi fried rice, or any dish that I think could use some heat. I have repurchased and will continue to! Love, love, love it! I also love how it's squeezable instead of some gochujang sauces that you have to scoop out!5I Put it on EVERYTHING! Better than srirachaGood stuff... I know "Franks" has the saying... But I put this "S" on everything. Besides bibimbap, bulgogi, and cooking with it as a base, you can put this on eggs, fries, tacos, lettuce wraps, burgers... I could go on... I have used other brands of gochujang and the brand of CJ foods is usually always the best. Also this product has less sugar (still has 17g per serving) than others I have tried, which to me makes the taste way better. Just wished my local Korean grocery carried it...5The sauce to make great KalbiI loved this sauce, originally found it at Walmart. Found it here when they were out. My first shipment had one broken bottle, rather than send a single bottle they shipped out another six. I love Kalbi. Most of the time I marinate ribeye steaks from the Asian market for 3-4 days and then broil them. I also buy carne picado (thin sliced beef) from Walmart to make a version of bulgogi. I marinate the meat then stir fry with Angel hair sliced cabbage and thinly sliced onions. Then I top with an over easy egg, green onions, and toasted sesame seeds over rice. I'm a wimp so because of the black pepper this is spicy to me. I'm sodium restricted, but with this brand I can manage to work it in, it's lower in sodium than other brands I've looked at in that stores.5I found this to be tasty, but too sweetIt's a tasty, right out of the bottle, not so spicy and sweet gochujang sauce. I got this to make bibimbap at home and wanted to use this for the sauce. The spice level is like a mild american brand salsa, not spicy but a little hint of pepper. I also think its too sweet, and the ingredients in it are first water, then sugar, so I guess I should have read that before hand. I would prefer sauce just like they serve at korean restaurants, spicier and with more hot pepper paste. So while this is tasty, not exactly what I was going for! I'll keep looking...4Sweet and runny. Fermented flavor very weak.I've become a big fan of gochujang since first experiencing it at Spoon restaurant in Berkeley. I used to leave near that restaurant, and would go to there in large party because the gochujang was so good (although the mung bean pancakes and dolsot bibimbap are also both 10/10). Their gochujang was hot like sriracha sauce, but with a second and equally-present flavor channel of fermentation, a slightly sour, beer-like flavor. If Spoon would only sell that stuff at retail, I am sure that they would dominate the gochujang market. Sadly, I have difficulty even getting them to give me a little to-go cup of it.Since then, I have ordered at least three different kinds of gochujang on Amazon. The first, best, and most expensive was Wholly Gochujang. It's not quite as good as Spoon's but definitely in the same ballpark. Same texture, sour/fermented flavor was pretty strong. The second best was Chun Jung One, which has a still-weaker fermented flavor, but still good, and adequate texture, or half the price of Wholly Gochujang. This bibigo gochujang is sufficiently different that it seems like it shouldn't have the same word as the Spoon sauce. It is, I suppose, a decent sauce. But it's very different, and kind of ordinary in comparison. Number one, it is sweeter. It tasted almost like a sweet-sour sauce that's been mixed with hot sauce. It is also a thinner, to the point of being runny if it is not in a refrigerator. The tangy fermented flavor is mostly absent. I do like the packaging, since I would prefer to just escort gochujang on my tacos or whatever rather than using a spoon (the other two kinds above both come in tubs/jars). But it's not worth sacrificing the flavor.I will finish this sauce, it's not awful, but I think I'm going to go back to spending money on Wholly Gochujang.3Go for it!I used this with my new granite Bibimbop bowls. It was really good. Tasted like I was eating at one of our local Korean restaurants. It's so good I just bought bottles from a bunch of family members. It is good on all kinds of food. As soon as it gets low I'm ordering more.5Awesome sauce...I'm usually downing giant bottles of Huy Fong Sriracha and have a fridge full of assorted hot sauces... There's like 20 different ones in there and I've tried a lot of weird ones and scary ones too... But I figured I'd give the B!b go a shot... And it's delicious! I'm kind of immune to heat and spice... But not totally and the heat is nice and so is the sweet too... I recently tried Kikkoman Sriracha and I like it sort of and in my opinion that's a 3 as far as flavor... Huy Fong is just always a 5 in my opinion just as a comparison... I've also tried Texas Pete and a few other ones. But literally I wish I knew the Bibigo existed before because a lot of stores don't carry it by me. (I actually looked up who does now!) While it says Walmart as well... I've never seen it there, Target maybe? I'm not sure it will compete with Huy Fong as No#1 but it just may? Haha... Time will tell... I actually just squirt that in my mouth like candy Occasionally I find something I can't take as well and while it's fun... Bibigo is not that it's just a little fun heat and nice tasting... Something I would just keep squirting on crackers and eating or sandwiches... Hot dogs... Noodles... And so on. So just saying... I'm damn impressed.5BYE BYE BUFFALO WILD WINGS!!!I absolutely LOVE this sauce! I fell in love with the Korean BBQ Wings from Buffalo Wild Wings a few years ago, only to be told that it was a limited flavor. I don't think they have brought this flavor back since and I was craving them. I've tried many MANY sauces and this one is delish (with unbattered air fried wings). I've re-ordered this sauce a few times and have now had to order for my mother as well. I found out by mistake that this sauce is AMAZING on sweet potato fries too (crazy)!!! I've also tried it on beef, drumsticks & thighs. ALL GOOD!!! Please don't ever discontinue this sauce, I'm hooked!5
