Simply put" SUPERB!...since my dear young wife left this vale of tears, I've been wondering what to do with all her beloved tea making gizmo's/paraphernalia, and then, one day, the wife of one of mu 'buds" at my VFW post, gave me several oz of this tea. Voila!, I was so taken with it, that I ordered 16 oz from Amazon...Terrific price for a DXXX good cuppa! If you like plain tea, with some body and flavor to it, this is gonna be your cuppa tea.I've also added some chai spice*, or Honey-Ginger crystals* to it, and the assam shines though.-Robert P. von Fischbach, Atascadero, California*-items also purchased from Amazon5Very high quality tea; nice and strong without bitternessI m a sucker for really good jasmine tea, and this one is excellent. I ve been drinking it for afternoon tea pretty much every day since I ve purchased it, and it is wonderful with food and it s flavorful enough on its own. I m not a huge tea snob, but I do like a good cuppa. I also love many of Ahmad s black tea with fruit, as they taste like...good black tea with fruit. Nothing else, just like this tea. It tastes of tea, a bit bracing but not overly astringent or bitter at all. It s rapidly become the tea I reach for most often.5Good Tea for Daily UseI don't usually write reviews for things right out of the gate. I use the thing for a while and get to know it. So, full disclosure, I've been drinking this tea for three days. To be fair, in my world that's a lot of tea.I picked this up because while I usually favor high end Yunnan black, Fujian oolong, or pouchong, some days you just want a drama-less cup of tea. You may not have time to perform a whole multiple-steeps gongfu ceremony when you just need some caffeine on your way out the door. I don't know about you, but I don't want to put high end dustless green oolong in a travel mug.I've made this tea in various ways and with a variety of steeping times (always with boiling water) and I can say one thing, this tea is pleasant and absolutely impossible to mess up. It always tastes about the same, and you can steep it twice with no loss in enjoyment. It has a gentle flavor and mild astringency. The aftertaste is mild but distinctly Assam-ish. You can't mistake it for anything else, even though many Assams I've tried are darker, more aggressive, and significantly drier and more bitter. So, on the whole, it's a good value and is totally drinkable, though if you're a teasnob I don't see it replacing your all-time favorites.4One of the better Assam teas you'll find and in loose leafI've drunk tea all my life and if you're looking for a bold, flavorful and malty cuppa, I think this is it. One of the better Assam teas you'll find and in loose leaf, it's a great deal. It beats most other higher-end teas. Taylor's of Harrogate has a wonderful Tea Room Blend Leaf Tea with similar flavor profile but it's hard to find and much more costly. For now Ahmad Ghalami Assam is my go-tea for my first cup of the day and mid-afternoon tea break. ETA...it's excellent with milk and sugar.5What a lovely tea, and at the price? Get as much as you can!"You're gonna be sorrryyyy...," was the little voice in my head as I made cup number three of this lovely, aromatic tea in the middle of the afternoon. Yes, I'll be awake till next week, but I don't sleep much anyway, so I'll enjoy life in the moment I'm living right now (and regret it later, but that's later, so who cares?)Came packed in a sealed foil bag inside of the Ahmad box. When I cut the bag open, there was a rich, flowery scent. Took a few long, deep inhales directly from the bag. A rush, for sure.Brewing it, people say you can let it steep longer than the Barooti, but I'd disagree, after three-mins it was already more powerful than most Assams. 3-4mins using a tablespoon (perhaps my addiction has become out of control, but I like tea to have taste!) per cup and it's already getting a little tannic. 2-3mins seems best. Not the classic Assam flavor I'm used to (and I get my Assams from a tea shop in India where I teach and live part-time), but it's a lovely cup of tea no less. If you're looking for that light, fleeting Assam flowery taste, perhaps use only a teaspoon and brew for less time. Overall, esp. considering price per pound, this tea is a WINNER!EDIT: After more than a month with this tea, it's my new go-to in the morning (or afternoon when I get really stupid). Not the best tea I've had (the old Rishi China Breakfast Black was that, but even that is different now, changed growers and blend, still good, but not the best), but certainly for the price it's a solid, lovely tea. Sipping a cup now and had forgotten that I'd left a review, so leaving this edit. If you like black teas, you will not regret this purchase at all!-------------Update Aug 2019: Bought another pound of this tea, it's again my favorite go-to morning tea. Still a great tea. Fresh and lovely flavor, very rich and malty. For the price it's the best bargain around!5Strong but not bitterI really like this tea. Bought it several times so I am confident in writing that this is a really good quality tea. I like my tea strong, so I use the double of recommend amount to brew my cup. It produces strong but not bitter taste and dark amber color. This is the reason I've switched from Ceylon black tea: less tea leaves (recomended one tea spoon per cup) would taste watery, but I would always use two spoons and if not carefully measured they would final in very bitter drink. This tea maintains strong yet gentle taste. One of the best black teas I've ever had and I will keep ordering.5The perfect cup of strong black teaI have been drinking various Ahmad teas for a couple of years now, and when I moved away from the store where I used to buy them, I turned to Amazon. The price is a little higher here, oddly, but it saves me a drive.Kalami Assam is an excellent cup of tea. I make it with a little lemon and sugar and steep it way too long because that's how I like it. What's great is that, even though I steep the pot for 20 minutes, it gets nice and strong without being bitter at all. The tea leaves are also nice and big, so you don't end up with a bunch of sludge at the bottom of the pot after you strain it. I use 10 gm. in a quart of hot water to make a pot.I have a subscription to this stuff because it is so good. My only wish would be for the seller to carry the entire line of Ahmad teas. They have a wide variety and it would be good to be able to mix and match.5Surprisingly good Assam tippy tea. I'm impressed. Here are some tips for getting the best flavor.I'm a little obsessed with good tea. I thought I'd order this to take with me on a business trip, so I could enjoy loose leaf tea on the road, and not place my more expensive stash at risk while I travel.Well, I have to say I'm VERY impressed! I was expecting mediocre, okay, pleasant tea. This is actually very good stuff.I mixed this tea with the Ahmad Ceylon Earl Grey to add some flavor. I used one teaspoon of Earl Grey, two teaspoons of the Kalami Assam, placing the Earl Grey on top of the unflavored Assam to balance out the extraction. I also added two teaspoons of Xilitol (healthy sugar substitute) to the pot.I used a standard teapot with a contact infuser, boiling 0.75 liters of water, waiting ten seconds, then pouring the water into the infuser. I set the timer to 3:00 minutes. After 3:00 minutes, I removed the tea leaves, stirred the pot, covered it, and began pouring. The flavor was very good, well-balanced, and not bitter. after the third cup, the flavor actually improved (this tasted better when it cooled off a bit, not too hot). I enjoyed every sip, and finished the whole pot within 40 minutes. Here are a couple of additional tips, after some experimenting:1. My ideal brewing time for this tea is 3 minutes. 4 minutes can work if you like a stronger, more astringent brew. After 4 minutes the tea quickly became bitter. 3 minutes seems idea.2. Count to ten (ten seconds) after boiling the water before pouring it over the tea leaves. Otherwise you might burn your tea and ruin the flavor. This tea blend has many broken leaves in it, which release a lot of tannic acid when burned. That's what leads to the bitter flavor.3. If you hot brew this tea and then refrigerate it, the tea will become very cloudy and lose much of its fragrant flavor. Although I prefer iced tea, this tea is best served warm or hot.4. This tea makes a decent cold brew. If you cold brew the tea, it will not become cloudy. I am mixing 1/3 Earl Grey, 2/3 Kalami Assam, 2 table spoons (6 teaspoons) in a 32 ounce Mason Jar, and then leaving it in the refrigerator for two days, with some sugar in the jar. The flavor is very smooth and uplifting, with no bitterness. The tea comes out clear (not cloudy) if you cold brew it. The flavor is different from a hot brew.Hope that helps. I do recommend this as a budget tea. It will take me 6 months to get through this supply, if I use it to make two teapots per week.4This tea was not available in stores near my home !!!We are tea lovers at my house and it is so great that we can have this one delivered to our door. It is a particular favorite of ours. Ahmad tea is quality tea and this price is wonderful. We just add it to our tea infuser and keep it ready at all times. We enjoy drinking it hot or cold. In fact, I served it as an iced tea recently to guests and everyone was talking about how refreshing it was. My husband teased me because he said the tea received more comments than my lamb shank that I served !! I will be buying many boxes of this tea in loose and bag form I am sure .5GoodIn my opinion Ahmad tea is the best. It's the only tea that I drink. I like loose tea because that's the best way to brew it, you see the quality of tea when you look at the leaves, not the dust in the bags. Though I drink Ahmad Mango tea in bags and it is pretty good.5
